What even is hush?

In our Energy Map workshops we talk about the fact that the hush quadrant (see below) is the one that contains energy that BOTH feels good (is desirable) AND is lower energy.

hush is the counterbalance to our high energy, feels good HUSTLE state.

hush can be calm, restful, reflective, recharging or re-energising.

We need both HUSTLE and hush to be our most brilliant, authentic, wonderful selves.

Why do I need to find my hush?

Look I get it, I’m the one who used to write at the bottom of her power-house CV, under personal interests “partaking in relatively aggressive sports (Tennis, Basketball, Boxing)” (that’s a direct quote).

Even my spare time was high octane and full on.

As driven, high-achievers, it feels like we’re on a steep ladder, needing to constantly push harder, better, faster, stronger and climb, climb, climb.

But we’re not robots.

We’re human.

That’s the beautiful, ugly, messy, powerful, fragile truth of it.

And we need some form of balance.

The space to pulse, higher one moment and lower the next.

If we don’t - if we constantly strive, then we end up in a frantic state of survival mode, or worse, burnt out.

The ability to pivot between high and low energy allows us to rest, recharge, re-energise and re-emerge ready to more effectively and enjoyably HUSTLE.

This exploration of HUSTLE + hush is a personal journey I’m constantly on - finding the mix of HUSTLE + hush to work for me, in the moment I’m in. It’s one I love to work with clients on; whether that’s a team coming together for our Energy Map workshop or a 1:1 client exploring how to reconcile and realign their ambitions.
